Dusty Slay Album Recording

The Cape Fear Comedy Festival is breaking new ground in 2016. We are proud to welcome to our festival, for an official album recording, Dusty Slay! Dusty got his start in Charleston, South Carolina, just down the coast from Wilmington. The show is at the historic City Stage Theatre located on the 5th floor of 21 N. Front Street in Downtown Wilmington, North Carolina.

DustySlayDusty Slay is a stand-up comedian with a baritone voice so smooth it’s like champagne in your ears. Slay has appeared on several network shows including NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”, the popular program “Laughs on FOX” and he was a featured comedian on “TMZ”. Dusty’s comedy is regularly showcased on many nationally syndicated radio programs including Sirius XM, Pandora Radio and “The Bob and Tom Radio Show”. He’s also been invited to numerous comedy festivals across America including: The Laughing Skull Festival, The Charleston Comedy Festival and The Cape Fear Comedy Festival. Dusty won both the “Fight Night Competition” and the “Almost Famous Competition” at the Charlotte Comedy Zone in 2014. During his years in Charleston, SC Slay won The Charleston Comedy Festival Stand Up Competition two years in a row and was voted “Best Local Comic” by the readers of the Charleston City Paper in 2013 and 2014.

Blaire Postman

Blaire Postman is an energetic, authoritative, high-voltage stand-up comedian. Her performances include unexpected material ranging from original songs, living with recovering alcoholics, outlining the dark history of Super Bowl halftime shows, the dangers of running like a well-endowed hobbit and a JPOP style cat rap. She's often sort of loud and excitable, but essentially pretty nice.

About City Stage:

City StagePlans for the old Masonic Building located at 21 North Front Street were conceived in 1897, when several Masonic groups banded together and decided to build a new Masonic Temple. Construction began in 1898 and the cornerstone of the building was laid on May 13, 1899.

The fifth floor of the building was converted to the present theatre around 1914. It was occupied by the Scottish Rite Bodies from 1909 to 1981. The robing room for the Masons is now the dressing room for the actors. The second, third and fourth floors were used by the Masonic and Allied Masonic Bodies from the time the building was opened until 1981.

On June 24, 1982, the building was sold to the Wilmington Holding Corporation. Offices were then leased to the Army Corps of Engineers who also leased space in 23 North Front Street. If you look in the alley between 21 and 23 North Front, you can see the breezeway between the two buildings which was used as a crossover by the engineers.

The building changed hands again on August 31, 1992, when actor Dennis Hopper purchased the property. After purchasing the Masonic Building, Mr. Hopper embarked on renovations of the building. Mr. Hopper then sold the building to John Sutton who is the current owner of the Masonic Building.
